Is under estimating work more dangerous?

Well said Mark. Take a break, get the whole crew together and tell them, "This job is not bid well, lets do it safe and if there is anything we can do to make it more efficient without compromising safety, lets do it." Ask for input and make crew decisions. Everybody goes home today and everyday.

My hourly help knows that they get paid for the time I authorize so they don't necessarily worry about the "slow down." If they are slacking though thats a differen story altogether! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I also hire an independent climber who is on percentage so when we have to do a slow-down, or if the job is a whiz-banger of an under-bid we come to terms on-site. Usually he is good about it cuz he knows that we'll have some high margin jobs in the near future.

Bottom line is knowing when to stop & step back or, sometimes even packing it up to go home for the day.

As owners we're the ones taking the risks...no need to take foolish ones.
