Is my helmet dish-washer safe?

Say you're using the Lockjack. You've thrown a descent toss with the throwline and set you're climbing line. You plan to hip-thrust up the tree and set your friction saver once near the top. On your way up, you notice that there is an unremovable limb going between the two sides of your climbing line.

My question- What steps are needed to disconnect and reconnect the lockjack so that both sides of the rope are on the same side of the limb. Does this differ from what I might do in a similar scenario but with a distel?

And no, I don't wash my helmet in the dishwasher. I throw it in with the laundry!

Nik if this should happen,Once you get underneath the offending branch you can then attach a second attachment with your strop to hold you while you detach the dead end of you line. This is attached to the top of the lockjack in the ring.Take it round the branch so both sides of the rope are clear again. Its just the same as taking the dead end out of your centre dee if were running a distal.

alright, say its a sketchy dead limb and you cant tie into it....then how would you do it.....without going back down, anchoring one end, and climbing it single rope?

Re: is my climbing rope microwave safe?

I might not be being clear, here, but what I'm wondering is...usually in this situation with the Distel, I'd safety in around the trunk or another branch, or maybe the offending branch, disconnect one side of my distel, throw it over the branch to my side, then reconnect.

Is it the same thing when using the lockjack? I basically just wanna know how it would attach to my saddle.

Des this make sense? I know I'm confusing sometimes!

Re: is my climbing rope microwave safe?

When I was packing to head to ISA Montreal I was running out of time to get things done in the house. Half a load of dishes were in the machine and I smelled my helmet. Pee youuuuu, nasty ;( In the top rack of the dishwasher, clean and sweet a little while later!

I read about a motorhead who bought an old dishwasher for his shop. He plumbed it in and used it as a parts/tool washer. Probably could cleanup the coffee cups too :)

The bottom biner of the LJ stays attached to your saddle at all times. You would safety in and then unclip the top biner, bypass/isolatethe offending branch, and be on your merry way. No difference from any split tail system except the rope terminates at the top of the LJ and not at your rope.

When the question about a dead limb came up I flashed on a way to isolate the limb and not use a safety lanyard around a good anchor point.

There would be many ways to detach. Pull some slack in the dead end of the rope and toss a bight over the bypass limb. Tie an inline loop, your choice of loop. Clip a biner thorugh this loop and into the top biner of the LJ. Now you have a redundant attachment. One end is on the bad side of the bypass limb and the bight is on the other. Detach the dead end biner and continue until you get to a point where you can safety in and straighten things out.

Insert here: All of the usual cautions about having too much slack in the rope and testing the new attachement system before moving off the old.
