Interesting quirck of climbing

Glens, you're right. I didn't see the ball before. As far as the one sold by Sherrill, weighing in at a hefty 16oz, I think I would prefer an 8oz throw bag for up in the tree.

ok you could be correct. I just call the bag a ball sometimes and vise versa. I guess if you technical about it, they did and still do make a ball. Dont know many people who use them though ...I think the rubber ones that looked like a pear that weighed about twenty oz. they called a ball. I have one kicking around at work somewhere as a relec. ...lol

Klimbinfool,
I was confused about the ball also.
Did you also specifically mean to attach the throw"bag" to your "climbing line" when in the tree if the next TIP is close? If so, this is an interesting concept rather than use the throwline.
Thanks,
CharlieB.

You say bag, I say tomato, er, uh...ball.

I don't think that I've ever seen more than a half dozen throw balls in my whole career. And, I can't remember seeing ONE of them thrown. Can anyone? Does anyone use a t'ball? If so, why instead of a bag?

You had to ask...first, why do I have it?...back in the late 70's or early 80's I needed a throw-something...Ben Meadows wanted about $17 for a rubber throw-thing with rope. I happened upon this wooden ball with eye hook already mounted in it..the ball is about the size of a croquet ball. I paid 25 cents for it at a "thrift" store and have used it ever since.

It can be dangerous...I always have my hardhat on when I use it.

I have always wondered what it is...can anybody tell me? Maybe it was a throwball before I happened upon it??

I have been eyeing a real throw bag to try, but am getting by OK for now.

I had a guy that used to work for me that was a highschool pitcher that threw over 90mph and he used to throw that big rubber ball about 60 feet into the tree overhand.
