I spent a couple of days this week rigging down three larger Firs hanging over a trailer, that really should have been a crane job as well....lol.
Two of the firs had snapped off the previous summer at about the 60-70' mark and the remaining fir codominated at about 70' into two 40-50' tops.
Every single piece had to be roped, saving the limbs that could be hand bombed to safety. For most of the rigging and work we used an 80 foot Altec from a local Hydro contractor and finished it up out of our 60 ft, none of it had to be climbed which was one saving grace as the trees were all grouped in a bout a 10 foot area and had 3-4' DOB, it would have been a miserable climbing and rigging job in such tight quarters, but it could have been done, being we could reach it with the buckets we used the trucks.
Final pieces are being rigged down on monday morning. Yes we took our time and did it very carefully, one picec would have destroyed their trailer... IIRC we got 8000 for the trees. It will have taken two and a half days, not bad money could have been a bit better I thought, we should have charged em 10000, cest la vie.
