Insurance for Splicers

For those of you who are splicing ropes for others, whether climbing lines, prusiks, rigging lines or other rope tools, what is the type of liability insurance you carry for your splicing? Is there a particular rider, classification or insurance company that you folks deal with?

Also, what sort of testing regimen, documentation and serialzing protocals do you follow?

I have frequently been asked to splice eye-2-eyes as well as lanyards and rigging lines but I have hestiated, not because I don't have full confidence in my splices I just want to make sure I dot all eyes and cross all tees.

All input is appreciated!

A cottage industry blooming in Vermont? BTW, How was Geezers, sorry I missed it. Left you a phone message while you were in FL. Holler back at me please.

More like a woodshed industry!

Just got your message, seems my cell phone has been acting up. Had no messages for the past two weeks then today had 6 pop up at once the oldest one from 1/17

Very gray area there Rick. Call Rich or John to find out where to look. Maybe there's a rider you can ad to your insurance policy?

I am certified in Yale cordage single strand and double braid lines, but still don't sell any of my splices. For splices like Tachyon and OP, I still like to have Rich or John do those for me.

I only splice stuff for company uses nothing actually gets sold. I feel good about that because I know what uses they get put through and I can keep an eye on them.

I've thought about it too but again it all about liability.
