Ice Tail eye and eye

Followed Samson's instructions here:

Had a heck of a time getting that second tail through the crossover for being so tight. Third (maybe fourth?) attempt I sized down to a 1/4" fid which finally got it through. Any suggestions for the next one? Maybe a wire fid makes it easier?

I have trouble with anything smaller than 11.7/11.8mm stuff. 11mm drives me nuts, and I have learned that I just don't have the personality to remain composed enough to do small hitch cords, even with wire fids. Marvel at those who can.

That looks nice. I use a wire fid for all splicing needs. Did the samson measurements give you the target OAL you were after?

Thanks. Their measurements are 80" cord for 33" prusik. I started with about 82" and ended up about 34". Didn't need anything too precise, just for rigging.

Try a wire fid. Also on the first burry keep the tail hanging out of the exit. You can anchor this tail to something sturdy to keep tension on it aiding in the second bury cross over. Doing this keeps slack on the exterior opening the hollow void inside.
