Ice tail E2E. Crossover bury or not?

Am finding that my icetail E2E with a full crossover bury just isn't grabbing my 11mm line as well as some of the other smaller diameter E2E prussics I've been seeing folks use.

I cannot see why I can't just go with a non-cross over bury on this stuff. Thots either way?

No crossover. It adds to much volume changing the line from 8mm to a hard 10mm. The gain in strength is not needed in the user configuration.

I do the locking brummels even with the cross over bury; force of habit I suppose.

What should the minimum bury length be with the locking brummels?
A 'well-tapered' 6" (maybe 3" of taper?)

The locking brummels definitely keep things more compact, but the bury can still back out, so I'd suggest getting some stitches in it sooner rather than later.

I usually do one locking brummel with bury and try to determine how much actual product was used up, including the shrinkage of the cover when making the bury. In other words, when making the bury, it may take 8" of cover to make a 6" bury so you're losing some length there. Hope that makes sense. Then, use that measurement to determine the final desired length of your eye to eye.

You use less cord than a long crossover too. So you could potentially get a few more hitches out of a given amount of Ice Tail.
