I want a rope with almost zero stretch.

Be good to see yoyoman test attachment Amsteel to 10mm htp with double sheet bend vs hardware attachment...
I bet it would break the test bed... Amsteel dislikes knots, I cant begin to tell you how many times the knot broke at the end of the winch line. Does well with splices, but it needs a mile long straight bury. If one were serious I'd suggest splicing the amsteel to a ring, then either splicing the climbing line or tying to the ring. Seems like more screwing around, and it would be best to just deal with with the enlongation, or get the most static line and live with that.

I'd substitute the ring for a quicklink. That way you can use your eyesplice on the rope, but you're not commited to having that combination.

I looked on sterlings site and it says 12.5 for 1/2 inch htp. Sorry for the de-rail. Has anyone tried work pro?

I like the 12.5 workpro. The MBS is obscene, and it feels fat and nice in the hand. On paper twice the stretch as HTP 13mm, but for the life of me i haven't felt it. YMMV with hardware though. And it's heavy.

It they are measuring elongation at a percentage of mbs and the work pro has a much higher mbs, it makes sense that the amount of elongation we would experience would be less than what it might seem if we went just by the % of elongation. I want to try every rope, but I don't want to pay for every rope. It would be cool if the bdb worked good in a 12.5 mm. I would love to have that much to grip.

I am seeing on sterlings site,
work pro 1/2 in. mbs @ 10,000lbs elongation at 300lbs 3.2%
Htp 1/2 in mbs @9000lbs elongation at 300 lbs .9%
So there goes my percentage of mbs theory. I almost never see a tie in point over 90 ft., so a little stretch doesn't effect me like someone who is tying in at 150ft

Yea I’m lucky to break those heights where i’m at too. Even so, it doesn’t bounce at all when you’re in that ascent-step rhythm, even with a basal. I’ve fucked up and shock loaded into it once or twice. Shouldn’t have felt great, but rope felt great.

My favorite ascent line for years has been Yale Valkerie 11.7 mm. It looks and feels like a red version of Poison Ivy. It has a polyester cover over a dyneema core. I don't believe Yale markets this rope to arborists anymore.
