i love giving employees wake up calls

that about nailed it on the head. Except for the rare rare occasion, the crew I work with is never late. In fact, I'm usually the last one in and I'm always 5 min early.

Maybe he needs a different type of wake-up call.

How did this affect you? The crew? Him? How could it have?

Is this a regular occurrence?

i had a good idea it's called "he got fired cause he's always late and lies when he calls in sick- he's just hung over. today he was in a car accident only he doesn't remember talking to me last night when he was faced and i know he was just hung over and he didn't bother to call and give an excuse until 700pm twelve hours later." so f__k him he got fired. today was a t&m job i lost a lot of money because i couldn't find a replacement for him and it was the first time working for the customer. the first question she asked " I though you were bringing THREE guys?" wafm all day

Its easy here when I do jobs or at the campus.I don't babysit get here on time or take a hike. At the campus you get a 5 min grace period if you constantly roll in about 1 min before punch in well we get erked and they are handed the sh&t shovel all day. More than enough times we have rotated people do to lack of time, get rotated to the state crew and you are on the way out.
My stepson will be 15 this year a couple small cutting jobs under his belt, but even he knows when a boss says 5 you are there at 4:45 or earlier.I do test that theory now with X-Box in his life so far he has failed and has lostsome valuable training time and pay.
Basically motivation in some is very difficult, thats when finding motivated people would be in order.

I had some one like this. I started sending him home and leaving without him. Then he was pissed because(he has a 45 min 1 way drive) I wasted his time and gas. It was only a temporary fix he would soon fall into the old ways. He is never late now......sitting on the couch

We give a warning and then send guys home after the arrive late. That never goes over well with them, but they then understand the severity and ponder their future with the company.
