I hate that i have to do this but i need help...

I had always thought about being a fire fighter, bc I thought I was clutch or "good in the heat of battle", maybe even fearless. I always thought I could save them from anything. I would die for them. I thought I was tough. But that night I was none of those things.
Like RogerM, those words hit me hard too. We see so many similar tragedies on TV and the movies and think we are supposed to somehow measure up to those cool-headed heroes who are simply acting in a planned and controlled plot, but reality is so different. If you had been heroic, either you would have written your post from a hospital with 3rd degree burns over most of your body, or we would be grieving your tragic death. Don't beat yourself up over that, and don't let survivor's remorse beat you down either. Instead, let me offer congratulations: you are certifiably normal. And you're alive to tell the story. You did all you could do, and, in some tragedies, all you can do is never going to be enough.

Not sure where to put this post/ thread for now but would anyone be interested in a raffle for a custom knife to benefit mowerr, I've got heat treated blanks in aebl for stainless both kitchen and edc blades and could do 15n20 hc or 1095 if you prefer a non a stainless knife. An example of my work it's a little edc/bird and trout in 15n20.

Huge thank you to all the donations, advice and kind words from everybody. I cannot believe how much support you all have given us and I just want everyone to know how grateful we are for everything.
If someone would have told me that this would happen and that we would get all this support from the arborist community here and the people in our local community, I would have laughed and never believed it....you guys are truly amazing and we thank you all so much, have a good day and be safe out there please.
