OH holy crap that was funny. Part 2 had me rolling on the floor

man, I can certainly respect a guy that would rather be working than not, but 375 to climb on a big crane job seems WAY low to me. Unless of course it's in the context of a steady job. Plus that guy seems like a jackass. Charge extra for dealing with jackasses.

glad it all worked out, though, and thanks for the laugh

That guy is going to keep you busy if you're going to have to come save him from himself on every job. Way to screw over Darwin!

Just kidding though. I don't want to see anyone hurt and figure you must be the same, and that's why you step in. It does seem a bit like you put yourself in harms' way with the crane operator. Maybe we have to approach these situations the same as an aerial rescue: don't become the second victim! (...after the first one stepped out!) It's a judgement call and I'm sure you knew what you were doing jumping into the situation. Very admirable.

BTW: is this the same guy who flipped the crane a few weeks back?!?

NO Robina, that was TreePros. This was Cannon Tree Service.
Im glad I helped. I have to do what my heart tells me. Had I known the way things would shape up, I might have walked away. In the end, the tree is down, nonone was hurt, and I dont think I am in any trouble with the law. War is hell right? Some of are deeper in the trenches than others I geuss. I hope I never get to "good' to help out someone who is way over their head. Its a passion of mine. I gave up on making a profit a long time ago.

Jesse,

I missed something...help me through my thick-headed moment...how would you be in trouble with the law, restraining orders, jail...etc?

Anyone with a heart understands the dilemma of passing by a danger without at least saying something. Watching the 'regret tape' inside our heads would hurt too much if we didn't say something.

Hey Tom. I lost my head and made bodily harm threats to Joe after he freaked out on me for comming down to eat.
Yes, I do see the irony in threatening to hurt someone in the process of trying to keep them from hurting themselves.
I really do.
It was 1 second of irrational thought. I didnt even know he called the police. I am lucky the officers involved could clearly see the situation for what it was. They did not perceive me as a threat and didnt take what I said all that seriously. Joe wanted them to take me to jail and they had the right to do so but didnt.
Earlier in the day (I have this on film too) I watched as Joe got into a confrontation with a man in a Lexus. Joe was pulling out to the dump when this guy was trying to get by. NO CONES BTW! Anyhow, this guy doesnt want to scrape up his car and wont pull onto the nicley manicured lawn so he is waiting for Joe to back up...or something. Joe Yells at him, he gets out, they yelled in eachothers faces for a bit.
Later that day, the guy drove by again. I was on the ground this time so I flagged him down. I apologized for Joes behavior and explained that thats not how arborists are supposed to act. Turns out he is an off duty firefighter. We will be working togethrr soon on the palm rescue dilemma...small world.
1 more thing.
BEFORE I ever got on the scene, apparently Joe was yelling and threatening the 1st climber who "wouldnt take direction". In the video you can see where he stripped the side over the street (smashing bushes and burying lines deep into the bark mind you). The easy stuff.

I was #3 on Joes list for the day...just didnt take it well as the 1st two.

Thanks for reading this Tom. Sorry for gunking up your sight with negativity but this stuff happens.

Could you imagine how Joe was 20 years ago when he started. You'd think he wouldn't need help that bad by now. How does an operation like that keep serving unsuspecting people for 20 years?

6 million holy smokes. No doubt you could bluff your way onto peoples property. I'm in such a small market if I piss off one person who deserves it everyone knows, and business declines. Gotta suck it up, with a smile.

[ QUOTE ]
Looks like the crane guy likes to use a bit of EXTRA UP!!! And on that last pick in the video he should have had two slings right at the top of the pick rather than a sling out to the limb, notice when it came off it was sitting level rather than vertical which means the flip over force broke the snap cut not the operator.

I agree that the picks were a bit sloppy. That was all my fault. I wasnt in "the zone".
I have a rather HUGE one comming up next week.
