I don't think this one is coming back this year

Doing a spring walk through I found this tree gone already, we noticed the fungus in the fall, but it looks like it got eaten out first. Any ideas what got to it?

This is in Minnesota. The tree may have had some smoke damage from the fire pit.

Its a sapwood rot, I'll guess Irpex lacteus then be corrected.

Looks like some woodpeckers got to it as well.
