Not at all! It dethatches them a little but the lawns look great after running over them. Fluffs up the stuff that gets trampled down too. Biggest downfall is it takes up a lot of room on the truck so it usually doesn't make the list unless its a big job. I keep forgetting to grab a video, and I don't have it out very often.does it tear up the lawns much?
I'm pretty sure down pressure is controlled by the machines downward pressure on the "boom."how do you regulate down pressure
is it much different than a snow broom? maybe keep on the trailer with the loader if you use one.. how do you regulate down pressure?
Dropped dead trees are what I got the broom for. Here the dead Ash trees get super brittle and shatter into a million little pieces if felled and rigging them isn't much better. It doesn't pick up anything but sweeps them into a nice pile or I sweep right into the loader bucket when its on the job too. I haven't run the bmg broom but it looks like it works well and nearly bought one before I found this. I think my broom would work slightly better than the bmg version but a new hydraulic broom is probably 4 times the cost of the bmg. I got lucky and snagged a deal at a local municipal auction for a couple hundred bucks. I have twice what I paid for the thing in hoses fittings and a quick tach plate.
Any idea what RPM is your broom turns at? I scored one off of Craigslist and need to figure out what size hydraulic motor I need to get the RPMs that works best...@Daniel
It is the same thing lots of landscapers use for a snow broom. All tho the one I'm using was originally for a machine with a lot more hydro flow than my little mini has so it turns much slower. Turns out I like the fact that it turns slower because I don't send the rakings flying like you would if it was spinning at warp speed.
It is on a hindge so down pressure is regulated by the weight of the unit.
It rides in the dump trailer with the mini when it comes out. I usually have room for a decent amount of wood in the dump trailer with the mini in it for the ride home but hardly any room if the broom is in there too.
If you want to try one most rental yards should have one for your skidsteer, but might be harder to find one for a mini. Give one a try.
No sure, but best guess is 300 to 400. I could be way off. Mine does spin much slower than most that are intended for snow removal and road way sweeping. Not by design but just dumb luck.Any idea what RPM is your broom turns at? I scored one off of Craigslist and need to figure out what size hydraulic motor I need to get the RPMs that works best...
The BMG broom works well on larger pieces and misses the smalls but a quick b j and all is well.Dropped dead trees are what I got the broom for.
