With the temp's on the rise I wonder how many of ya use a hydration pak in the tree? I know the last few days a few bottles of water sent up just ain't enough, end up slamming 3-4 when I get to the ground and still pissing yellow. Seems like they are cheap enuff and I am sure you can partial fill them and freeze, then top off in the am. Thought's?

I've seen a couple people wear them, if the have a sternum strap you also have a tenging point for SRS. I don't know if you can freeze them safely, but you could always fill it up with ice all the way.

Just personal preference here, but I like my plain 3 liter Camelback. Slim low profile. Was also issued one with a bunch of pockets and storage that made me want to carry around a bunch of crap I didn’t need. I guess if you’re a rec climber who’s gonna eat lunch up there or something it’d be useful, but if you’re working a tree and just want to pack water, go with the simple one.

Also, should go without saying, but don’t put anything but water in it. I threw away a bladder after my brother borrowed it for a concert and filled it with vodka and iced tea. The taste and smell was not coming out.

I have a tiny one 100oz minimal extra space I carry on some removals,
if you want super minimal but tough Camelbak has a few. I have a mule I think or smth similar looking. Its ancient like at least 15 years old I've replaced the bladder but same bag... cant go wrong.

Camelbak military and hunting

Outdoor Research makes a large bottle parka with HD velcro attchment for mtn climbing. They will hold a 32oz nalgene bottle which are tough as nails they can be cliped to a biner and swap, two reg sized bottle in one. The case keeps the hot or cold in but the saw dust out... and it is very lightweight. 2 bottles one parka make a great system.

Cool! a friend gave me an OR Parka thing the other day ... I Never thought of using it to keep water cool ; i thought of using it for hot liquid during ski touring / mountaineering missions. cool idea

You guys have me wanting to pick up one of these ... little D-rings for walkie-talkie mount (crane work) is tempting. Hi-Viz + Breakaway straps + insulated bladder pouch

Comms have to be hands free I believe - is that OSHA or ANSI, and which section?

Might be some different standards in Canada.
Still a really good idea.
Or might be using voice activated radio or headset but not all contained on the helmet like Sena.
I do like that hi viz one, and I’d probably like a 2 liter one.

I ordered one for about 16 bucks from Walmart. Wanted to see if it fits my needs. I know for a fact that I wait to long to have water sent up, I guess I hate to bother the ground folk. That is stupid on my part because I have seen what the lack of hydro does to my output. I always pack a bottle up with me but 16 oz doesn't go very far in the heat. I am also changing my habits and instead of coffee first thing I force myself to drink 16oz of water when I get up. Suppose to help detox and hydrate after sleep???
