I need a big saw to replace a 056 they stold in Tulsa working the ice storm and I have a chance to pick up a Husky 395 XP real right. Was wondering what the general opinion of this saw might be. I have always run stihls

I've ran the 394 huskies for quite a while and they really can't run with the 660 stihls for very long. I don't know if the 395s are improved a lot or not.

I run stihls and huskies. 395 is an excellent saw. Rather than sit and compare what husky will hang with what stihl, and vice versa, it's easier to just look at the saw and what it is capable of. In my eyes, the 395 will pull a 36 inch bar for as long as it is alive. With a little upkeep, it'll live plenty long. How much will you use it anyway? We only swing a saw like that a few times a week AT MOST. That being said, I wont go and buy a 660. In my case, it doesnt make sense to drop the maximum amount of money on a minimal use saw. Now, small and mid size saws is a different story for me.

I am on my third 066/660, with dual port muffler, of course. Consensus is, the 395 (improved over the 394) will out pull a stock 660 by a fair bit...prolly not when porting the 660 muffler. I run lots of Huskys, just not that saw. I know it is a proven workhorse. only negative is its weight which is over a pound heavier than the 660....
