huge tree i removed at judges house

yeah im actually excited about the new gear. i have to admit i am alittle nervous with the whole hitch climber. i am comming out of a regular locking snap and a tauntline hitch.and a half inch rope not the 11mm it may sound stupid but i think inm gonna briang my old snap and rope the first few times as a back up untill im one with this new way.
keep it safe

Doesn't sound stupid at all! Sounds smart. There is a little difference in changing over to a closed climbing system, but its worth learning.

My old boss won't climb on 11mm cause he doesn't feel safe with the thinner rope. Even after showing him the strength ratings he didn't budge. What i'm trying to say is comfort is everything. He was still one heck of a climber and the difference in rope didn't take anything away from his skill.

Being comfortable in my humble opinion is the most important thing. Still somethings are worth putting the time into till you become comfortable with it.

Good luck, be safe. Sounds like thats a no brainer for you. ENJOY

yeah I should be fine the thing that I liked was how u just pull the tail and ur knot moves for you when ur comming back in on a limb that's awesome keep it safe

Ok I took your advice and went and got the vertex. Looks alittle ackward but it will definitely stay on my head. Thanks for the input keep it safe

I switched over from old school last year, and I'm hooked. I use the hitchclimber as well, but just got a look at the Anchor Bridge system up at NE Grows, and there are some clear advantages. I can't find any images, but their site http://abropeworks.com/index.php has dealer info, so you can check it out if your local arbor supply carries it.

A cool trick I learned for ascending with the hitchclimber is to use a sling (about 18-24") to move it away from you... You get full extension with your pull, it's pretty sweet!

Tom, if you want more info on the anchor bridge there is a ton of info here on the buzz including the inventor rich haitier (sp).

Just look up his treebuzz name rich h and pm him any questions you may have. He's a great guy, very informative and extremely helpful.

Treeclimber1... I see that that course at Rutgers was very informative for you as well.. That was a huge tree.. were you able to get the bulk out with a skid steer ???

yes it was a very good class.i took this tree down a few years ago.no skid steer but was able to drive a loader in from other property and through woods to log trucks.i had it topped and stick on ground in one day and logs out in another.Yes that was a very big tree the picts dont do it justice we had to double cut the notch with an 084 long bar.i roped out some really nice big pieces.
