HRC

Use a locked brummell on each end with a 6" bury (thats what i use) others might use longer some maybe shorter. I'll show you when we meet up to make our trade. I have some extra HRC I'll bring and we will splice one up.

I'm thinking maybe this Saturday if you aren't busy. As of right now i don't know if I'll be working or not. Either way I usually get off early on Saturday but I'll let you know as soon as i do and if you are not busy I'll swing by.

Thats exactly what I do too. 6 to 7" bury, 3 of which are a really gradual taper. Its the best way I've found to do it and seen it done.

I recommend getting some MaxiJacket to dip your eyes in and Knot and Rope Supply's whipping twine is great for whipping/stitching your cover on.

I spliced two eye to eyes out of HRC last night. First hollow braid I've ever spliced, and the first I've ever used HRC as hitch material. It's got a nice feel to it, and seems to behave very obediently as a vt hitch.

here's what I did for my HRC eye n eye's. Both have 6" tail bury (last 2" of tails tapered) and lock stitched the length of the tail buries before sliding the cover back up to the eyes. Did whipping on the first one, and then I thought to cover the eyes on the second one with some small webbing instead of coating them. Just did a few stitches to hold cover in place under the shrink tubing

I put the whipped eye n eye on the Lava lanyard I made recently and it's working great. I'm using the webbing/shrink tube one with the hitch climber pulley on my climbing line.

I'm comparing the hitch's "action" with using the spliced eye n eye to just tying a length of hrc onto the biner with dbl fisherman's. Compared to tying dbl fisherman's..which is of course faster...the spliced eyes move around on the biner a little when not loading my hitch. I could try making the eyes a little smaller so they're tight on the biner.

The other difference is the bit of stiffness due to the tail bury...so I have to adjust the overall length of the next eye n eye I make to compensate...or tie my hitch a little different.

I know the break-testing results for the spliced eye n eye vary due to tail bury length, lock stitching, etc... but does anyone know of any break-testing done for hrc tied with dbl fishermans? Just curious...for comparison sake
