How Often Do You Lose a Bid Because Your Price is "too high"?

The "I live on a fixed income" has been heard by my ears many times and living in a small town you know a lot of people and what they did for a living. Like manage a bank, or owned a grain elevator, or built a excavation empire, or a lowly poor hedge fund manager, or my family is so and so of such and such fame and a healthy trust fund. That being said living on a fixed income has a varied value.

My former babysitter who's husband worked at the same factory for 60 years and never made more than 35k a year passed away with $3 million cash assets, but they lived on a fixed income and lived very modestly. You would never have guessed they had that much.
If you give a fair price off the bat and stand your ground people respect that.
