How much volume does it to store a 120' rope?

How much volume does it to store a 120\' rope?

I know I have seen the answer on Treebuzz before but I can not find it right now. Here is the question. How much volume does it to store a 120' ,1/2" rope? I am looking into alternive rope bags, but need some info to compare the volumes. Thanks

Maybe this will give you an idea.

Re: How much volume does it to store a 120\' rope?

Here's a formula that Don Blair included in his book 'Arborist Equipment'

Volume= circumference squared times length of rope in feet divided by 830

His example:

A 5/8 inch diameter rope has a circumference of 2 inches
600 feet of rope

two squared times 600 divided by 830 yields 2.89 cubic feet of space to store the rope.

Thanks Tom I knew I had seen a formula somewhere.

Tino,

All you have to do is remember the formula for circumference of a circle...was that pi squared??? pi divided by radius??? No...pie, eaten...yummy

Nick, are you talking about the proverbial space between the lines?
