How much per man hour?

17(be 18 in a little over a week), around 187lbs.

We try to charge between $60 and $70 per man hour, or a $900 to $1200 daily rate, depending on the type of work, time of year, etc. The slow part of the year, its one 3 man crew. But recently, we've been able to run two 3 man crews, or one 3 man and one 2 man crew, depending on if I work or not.

45 and 205 to 210...depending on the BBQ.

The economy sucks out here in SoCal. We may propose around $50 per man hour on some jobs and still get underbid, or we may be able to get $75+ if the people care about their trees and who's doing them.

Rates depend on type of work (trims, removals, etc.), necessary equipment, hazards, travel time, customer, and customer's attitude. Yes, I do include a PITA (pain in the a%#) charge when warranted. The more variable, equipment and hazards, the higher the rate. I'm also thinking about how long it's going to take the guys, and if can be done in one day, then how many guys.

When the potential client asks, "Is that the best price you can give me?" I usually respond in one of two ways:

1. No, sir, I can make it better for us if you'll pay it.

2. What do you do for a living? (their answer) How about you come over and do that for me for less than what it's worth?

Don't always get the job, but have gotten some customers who are repeats now.
