How I set up my access line

[ QUOTE ]
I see the merit of your system from a safety point. There is a line always ready. I bet some bosses wouldn't be too keen on the time it takes to set it up.

Roger, you might like what's in the picture I attached...

Really the only extra time it takes is the fact that your pace from the truck to the tree might slow a bit because your carrying an extra line. Royce made a good point too.

As far as liking what I see...You better believe it!!
(look for pm :) )

What if you aren't climbing up to your TIP and have non- retrieveable seperate lines (as pictured?)?

Then you just pull the hitch up to where you want to start working...oh wait, I see your point, I think, what good is the extra line then, right? I guess the only advantage would be that you could clip into a "ready to go" system. Then abandon the extra line. In that case I guess I would tie it up from the ground eliminating the extra line and have someone pull it up to me. Who Knows? :)

I've done this a few times, but always just dropped the extra line...access/rescue line is a good idea though

Hey Nick, do you clip that j-lock thing directly into harness? I've seen similar gizmos in sailing shops and thought it would be a good big shot trigger...must be a different device, eh?

I've used the same setup, only the second line would be the tail of the climbing line. Saves a bit of time, as you don't have to get two ropes involved... With a 150 ft rope you thus get 75 ft of ascent, but you obviously don't get the bonus of a secondary rescue line.
