How do you use a Polesaw?

Stihl, Echo, whatever it is, what do you your polesaw for? I mean, they trim limbs, but is there a big call for that? Can you expand on usage? How high up do you cut? How big a diameter can you cut? Has anyone found a manual polesaw all they need? Are you a homeowner and found a powered polesaw worth it or do you do commercial work? Just curious how people use a polesaw. BTW, I guess this saw cuts well (and is light)... had this recommended for trimming trees in a woodlot... http://www.logrite.com/store/Item/Contractors-Saw

The log rite tool is for small branches in a forestry type setting.

My pole saws/ pruners see limited use, but are handy at the right times.

Pole tools are less accurate.

We use them on fuel modification treatments for pruning conifers to reduce the chance for trees to candle if there were a ground fire

They're great for elevating canopies. No need to leave the ground. Also great for nipping away lower limbs over obstacles.

Manual pole saw & pruner like THIS ONE is all I use. That logrite model looks like it's limited on how thick of a branch it can cut through. With extra poles, I have made and used mine as long as 24' high ... add my reach and we're talking about 28' above the ground.

Some of them groundies might not to be to good with a power pruner .... I've seen one get himself in trouble, then start cryin for help. Funny if you saw it 1st hand. He had a death grip on the throttle with the limb tips on top of him, and all the while protecting a flower bed with ornaments from danger. The pruner head was resting on a limb running.

We use Stihls power pole saw all the time. It saves time/money by not having to send a man up to raise a canopy, etc. Fantastic piece of equipment that I wouldn't want to be without. We use it almost daily.
