Horizontal Chipper

That's a H grinder. You don't feed that by hand. No reverse bar, safety features or remorse! Rule of thumb; anything with a live conveyor chain gets fed mechanically.

Do you think it would save alot of energy to not make such nice looking chips but 6" chunks like after thoughly slicing and dicing a trailer load? Still make good bio-fuel or dense landfill. For everything under firewood sized. In a perfect world it would go through a small backyard gate. Or even a compactor/baler? If branches could be turned into something the size of a square straw bale it would be easy to handle. Could those bales even become a building material?

The hopper would fill quickly of course with branches, and it is so heavy, but it may be nice to park it below and drop or rig branches right into the hopper from above, then when everyone is clear, start it up and let it mulch away.

Way to impractical. The feed bin sits too high, its too big, and it doesn't shoot chips out of a chute, so you can't chip into a chip truck, you'd need a dump truck sitting under the conveyor.

If you want to go this big, go for a Morbark M20 with the conveyor feed system, I've seen a few residential guys rock one that do a lot of big removals. You can chip into a chip truck, the tray sits much lower, so its possible(but not recommended) to hand feed. Its still a big beast, but not as large as the horizontal grinder you posted.
