Homeowner tries own removal

I see...so it is cool to be suspended by the cable but not just free swinging from the hook at the end of the ball weight. Heard both sides of the story up here where i work on the legality of it. Makes sense it would be ok to attatch yourself to the cable. Before I started working for the company I work for, a buddy of mine was tied into the hook and failed to notice a pin missing from the block attatchment. He was lowered to the ground and as soon as his weight was off of the ball, the ball apparatus came clean off of the cable. Obviously he wasn't too happy when this happened.
