homeowner springpole injury

The only reason why I am posting this is because it happened to a friend of the family.

"Well I had a very bad weekend was out cutting fire wood in the woods. Denis dropped a few trees and I went to cut up the tops the small stuff. Never thought that this little tree was loaded you know presser on it and never saw it coming. throw me down with the saw still running. I`ll never touch a chainsaw again. Well it could have been worst. it hit me square in the mouth. knocked my front teeth out of there sock its and lost three others and fifteen sticths in my lip.I guess I`m lucky but I can`t stand to look at myself in the mirror."

Springpoles...oy! They've got to be one of the sneakiest tree hazards there are. It's amazing what a little 1-1/2" tree can do to a body.

Get well soon to the victim.

I have a friend who refuses to recognize the danger in those tiny trees. Sure hope he doesn't have to learn that way. Hope your friend heals up quickly and cleanly.
Stay safe out there ladies and gentlemen.

On a recent lot clearing I used this time to instruct on dangers of spring poles, besides the lil scar on me arm. Just for interest I droped a tree for them to see what and point out where they were, they missed one and that is all I said it takes is that 1. I learned from that lil deal to carry a pole saw with me at times to to check for spring poles it helps when you are unsure.
