Pelt all dat shite away and get a SAKA.....
Bah ha....ok den....carry on..Haha hey man I'll happily pay $500 for a well engineered piece of aluminum kit. But $200 for a bungee in straws? Nah I'll happily use what I have lying around the house to make a simple tool like this.
That is interesting. This is the first time I have seen that one. I am puzzled though. I don't see any advantage to having a stiff tether between the ascender and the foot loop if the ascender is strapped to the leg. The leg will advance the ascender no less and no more than the tether will. The tether just makes it more complicated and nonadjustable for leg length.Anyone care to chime in on this unit?

Mine is strapped just below my knee with a velcro strap, and, no, it does not slide down.Strapped to your calf? It doesn’t slide down?
Take a pic sometime, I’d like to see.

That is pretty short. Does it ride nice. SAKAs are built for speed and efficiency. Had a few others. Some homebuilt. But my SAKAs are just on point. It's some cheap Chinese chest ascender off ebay. My philosophy is its not life support and will NEVER be used in life support capacity so I trust it enough for what I use it for. I did clean up the teeth with a piece of sand paper wrapped around a dowel when I first got it.
