Just got the call for this tree. Guess it’s was cut by some landscaper who guessed the lean wrong. Now it’s leaning over the house held by a small tree and ratchet straps. The landscaper bailed. Just left the site Like that.

Misjudged the lean my ass? I don't even see an undercut? Can you imagine how hard that thing sat back on his saw? Landscaper dude was lucky it came off the stump so he could grab his saw and get the hell out of there.

A colossal fuckup on the "landscapers" part for sure, but it doesn't appear to be that big of a deal as it seems that there are some nearby trees with some decent height and size,. Set a couple high rigging points in 2 nearby trees, top tie that things to these rigging points, and set up a few lowering devices. Then start slice cutting the fucker until she's down. Half a day in and out, then love em' and run. In a just world the idiot "landscaper" would come back and clean up the mess for free!

Agreed.

The rigging points don't even need to hold the entire weight. Between rope stretch, the ground, and lowering you can keep most of the weight off the top anchor and just use it as a very high guideline/tagline for the most part.

The guy bailing sure helps the situation out, make you look like a champ on what's a relatively simple rigging situation.
