Hivee vs. Tachyon

[ QUOTE ]

First time I saw Tachyon is when Banjo brought a prototype hank along on a climb. Was a great color pattern, I wish NE Ropes had put that into production. I've been climbing Tachyon ever since, nothing has threatened to replace it yet.

I love how we both lament that color pattern!!

I've been climbing on Tachyon for a month or two and love it. Before that I climbed on Poision ivy and really like that as well. I'll never go back to half inch.

I have to reply - because HiVee is my fave for natural crotch and Tachyon is my more 'high performance' line. For big climbs, pruning, ascenders...

I got a new hank of Vortex and like it lots too.
Got a bunch of free Velocity and come to like it (too small!)

p.s - I do lots of light rigging with Arbormaster Blue Streak. I like the color blue for rigging. Can not confuse with climbing lines. This is why I have never bought any Blue Moon. Can't climb on blue rope... :)

Now you have me curious what was it yellow with green specks as that is what I wish it was.

I'm probably over-doing it on the nostalgic memory but... I remember it as "sunbeam yellow" with red or orange specks.

Banjo can verify. Do you still have that rope?

Moss that sounds like the ultimate color for a climbing line. I will try and dream tonight with me climbing using "sunbeam yellow " with red/orange specks. I am loving that tachyon already. Must push to get NE ropes to make this a reality ( well we can hope ).

I still have some around, I'll post a pic later!

I used 12 then 16 strand for about 15 yrs then switched to Tachyon for about three yrs now and i like it a lot...wears well...light...great rope
I use either the Schwavisch or the blake depending on what kind of rope i happen to have for my split tail (blake if i'm out of thin rope for a prusik) both work great ...i like a fatter rope for my blake on the Tachyon dispite the fact that a thinner rope grabs better on a larger rope...i like the feel of a fatter rope for my blake on the Tachyon...for some reason i feel it holds better

...anyway Tachyon...great rope IMO

Thanks Jay! I had to go get some other stuff and got to feel the Tachyon and I am definitely going to grab it. I think I will love it. I removed some dead wood at my sisters house today and had to redirect quite a few times and every time I had to move my rope I was getting excited thinking about how light the Tachyon is going to feel haha.
