Hitch Cord

I have some 5mm hitch cord that is very stiff, wondering what, if anything will help break it in quicker? Thanks.

Just get some better cord. I don't know what you are using but it is no fun when you have to worry about your hitch when you are climbing. Not to mention not too safe either.

5mm sounds like its too small for hitch cord. My beeline is 8mm.

What kind of cord is it?

It's an HRC with a green\orange cover, definately 5 mm. Got it from Sherrill to use on my lanyard. It was slipping, but another wrap seems to have done the job. using a distel for the primary knot and a prussic for srt application. Hope that makes sense.

Sounds like tech cord, not beeline. Totally different animal, but excellent for a lanyard adjuster for sure.

If I was unclear, let me explain better. I have two beelines, 10mm and 8mm. I don't know what other hitch cord diameters are. 5mm sounded too small for a hitch, but I could be wrong. Perhaps a better match on the smaller lines. I think that certain hitches work best on specific sized lines, like a blake's hitch was designed to be used on equal sized rope.

I was thinking tech cord myself, but didn't know proper nomenclature, so didn't want to call it wrongly. Is 5mm tech cord heat resistant? Is it Tech Cord (brand name)?

The 5mm Tech Cord pictured has a Technora core (hence the name) but the cover is polyester. It should not be used where one is expecting heat resistance as a feature.

Yes that is what it is, Tech cord. Good stuff but a beech to break it in.

Thanks for that clarification. I didn't know if it was tech for technical or what. "Technora".
