Hitch cord for Fly

I'd guess that's the one rope that wouldn't work. It's so stiff you can barely tie a kot in it, so attaching it to the carabiner would be a problem, and even then, good luck getting it to lock down.

That HRC is the ticket. Hard to come by but well worth it. I think HRC is best all around cord. I have a piece I have been using for 4 months on an everyday basis through this crappy winter mix. Still works well and is in great condition. A bit pricey but if it lasts this long price doesn't matter. My second piece I used for 3 months, a little beat up and dirty but it is still in usable condition. After I wash it it should be mint.

I just got this other cord from a buddy. It's called bee line. I'll get pic later. It's a little fat for what I like but will put it to the test.

Can't go wrong with the HRC.

Sweet! Thanks. I like doing biz with bishop. They have always treated me good. Next petty question.....

HRC is $2/ft and StaSet $.4/ft does it last longer than StaSet? Then I can see how maybe it isn't more expensive......

Awww, what the heck, I need to make a small order anyway.

Thanks /forum/images/graemlins/bath.gif

Nathan,

When I used Sta Set w/ the rope guide I would get maybe 2 weeks out of 1. I now get months, as much as six or more with one HRC. That is 8-12 times as long at 4 times the price. Not bad math. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

- that is what I wanted to hear.

With the StaSet, I get maybe 2 weeks as well until it shows serious wear, needing retirement, and a few times herniation after just 2 weeks.

I should get a habit that is easier to satisfy where I live.

Here's a pic of the Beeline. Real good cord so far. It's a little fatter than the blaze. Which works well. It doesn't seem to bind at the top of the hitch. I'll ask what the full specs are.

Sawdust, i can't quite tell in the pic, but is that the beeline with the fuzzy polyester? How do you like it? Have you tried the version with smooth polyester?

I have to thank Tom for posting this. It was actually my question.

As far as static kernmantle, I will endorse the NO answer on a 2:3 Blake's hitch. I got stuck in a situation when my boss' boss rounded the corner and stopped for a chat. I would rather had talked on the ground but this black 8mm(?) stuff locked so hard I had to excuse myself, put on an ascender and rig out of that tail.

T-900 is not good. Works great for the double-dual lanyard keepers, but not for Fly.

The Fly is sufficiently static and I use it almost exclusively SRT. Going back to a more dynamic rig and DdRT is a lot more bouncy, which is more comfortable rec climbing.

I've just compiled a short list of ropes I can find and will buy lengths to make two hitches (I might like one of these) and also one of the pre-made ones -- red with black flecks.

I'm looking for some good performance in Kleimheist or VT systems. Each of the friction hitches cause the various ropes to perform differently. The comments in this thread are pretty well documented as to what hitches with what rope.

Hi there,
I was actually wondering what Fly is? I guess it´s a kind of climbing rope that we don´t have here in Europe (Germany) but perhaps I´m wrong?!

Sankyou for zee help!
