high idle

So my Husky seems to want to run high rpm at all times. I backed off the idle as far as I could-then set the low and high at factory settings, and it either does not want to run, or idles really really high on choke. if I get it to run with the choke off it dies or really really really runs at a super high rpm. Any ideas?

Sounds like an air leak somewhere. When you block off the air i.e. choke, it still runs fast then dies when you give it more air, i.e. choke is off.

I would start by checking your carb diaphragms and gaskets, then check your fuel line and impulse hose. If those dont clear it up then move to head bolts, rings, base gasket. Dont forget to adjust the carb back to where it was.

yup yup...thanks man. Air leak between the carb and the cylinder housing...runs like a husky now:)

Yeah, I had the same problem on a 335. The rubber 'manifold' doesn't bend like it's supposed to. Gotta a crack in it. A real problem with the 335XPT.
