high ball undecided

Have not torn that strap yet, Been using it regularly and I see that is definitely the weak spot of these things. I find the high ball a pretty good throw weight, Nothing earth smashing or revolutionary. There is a came called ladder ball I saw at a friends house, a horse shoes or lawn darts type game. It utilizes Highballs. The ball shape I do find useful in some situations. I cant tell if I throw any better with it. I definitely do not throw worse with it. Time will tell if I buy another one. Not running out the door to buy one but I still kinda like it.

Is it pliable or is it like the black rubber destructo ball?
Does it really fly straighter?
Higher per equal amount of pull?
Sturdy Construction? (1st runs are likely to be improved upon)

A nice little modification might come in the form of a large fishing snap swivel attachment at the throw lie. It may allow for spin to be put on the ball to work around the trunk. However, I have never tried such a thing because I don't live near big fish water and don't have ready access to such.

I dip my weights in plasti dip and they last for a long time through very rough treatment. But as with all things there are draw backs to that too. So a good variety of weights is like a good variety of Biners- some are better suited for one job than another.

I used one a bunch last week. I threw it once and Big Shot it maybe ten times. I loved how it came out of the BS. Maybe it shot higher and further than the classic weights - couldn't really tell, but it did just as well as any other weight.

As someone mentioned, the weak point is the nylon(?) loop that connects the ball to the ring. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't pull on the throw bag weight to get through crotches. I pull on the throw line itself. If there are twigs to break, I install the rope and then pull.

Don't put excessive strain on the weight itself, and you won't have a problem with it breaking.

I agree with Kevin, not an earth-shattering new device, but maybe a nice alternative to the leather bags - whether we needed one or not.

Well, tried out my highball yesterday. I didn't really want to climb, I was just playin with it because it's 12 oz. And I'm used to 10 oz. Anyways, after just a few throws, I was trying to isolate a limb, and of course it got stuck... Keep in mind the was a Doug fir. No tight crotches like maples.

I meant to ge a picture of it but I didn't remember to bring my phone up. It was lodged between the branch and a little dead stub. It is always amazing to see how strong those stupid little stubs are!

especially when you climb up SRT and find your line was over one, over top of your target crotch

yeah I got one of those the other day. I was super comfy on it until I was at the top (75') and realized it was a 3/4" limb. I was pretty quick with my lanyard on that one!

But back to the highball, I kinda like it, but that strap needs to be fixed. mine is about to break, so I am hesitant to use it. because with my luck, it is gonna be on a crotch that takes me forever to get, where the client is watching me, and I will finally get it where I want, and it will break then. I have not been having ANY zen moments with ANYTHING throwline related recently.

I like the lead-filled tennis ball idea...
