For the past week or so i've been thinking about H-A firemen. I keep playing around with the idea of trying to become one. I've looked at the city's FF site and couldn't get any info about it specifically. I guess my main question is if it is something that you could start out as soon as you started or is it something that you have to work up to?
It seemingly would be a great set-up considering FF's schedules. One day on two days off, two on/three off, or whatever it may be. The free time would allow me to either start my own company or become a contract climber with less/little worry about finances.
Has anyone ever done anything like this or know someone? Just seems like a natural progression for people in our field that love climbing/gear.
