I don't know if it's too late for this post, but I have an interesting cat rescue story from about a year ago. The cat had been up in the tree for about four days, it was a hot dry summer, and she was a very unhappy kitty.
I climbed up slowly and gently, trying to coax the kitty into not spooking, but the higher I climbed the higher she went to get away from me. The tree was a real leaner, and she finally went all the way out on the end of a dead 2" branch, way furthur than this 195 lb climber was going to go. Then the branch cracked, and she leaped through the air and landed in another tree about 10' away.
I was able to toss a line into the maple and make my way over to that tree, with the kitty trying once again to escape. At least the maple had no dead limbs. She climbed out of reach again, but this time I yelled down to the homeowners to put some cat food in a basket. They then tied the basket to a 10' pole, and I was able to reach the basket up to the kitty. She climbed in, and I stuffed her into my shirt. Somehow she finally trusted me. I've rescued three cats in the last ten years, this is the one that just wanted to run away. The other two wanted to be rescued.
That ever happen to you Dan? By the way, I signed up and thanks!
