Not sure if this is best area for this, but have a question about this rigging rope I have. It's a 5/8 rigging rope, can't remember manufacturer. I've had it for a year or so, and used it recently, and it got pinched on tractor, and shreded several strands, I cut it off, melted end. The issue is, the strands have what appears to be monofilament strands inside. hope photos are clear enough. Is this common in this type of rope, or any rigging rope?

I found that when I splice some 16 strand I think it is arbor master and has what I call a fishing (plastic) line included in some of the strands (or maybe all of them). What you have doesn't look like it though.

Not sure...wish I could help.

It's common in some 12 strands. Some manufacturers put 'poly olefin' (monofilament) fibers in the center of each strand to cut down on weight. It also reduces strength and slightly increases stretch. I would guess it has a tensile of 9,000 lbs.
