I hate to be a wet blanket, but If all you have are a bunch of pieces that are a few feet long and you don't know the history of the rope I would toss it and get some new rope from a reputable dealer and learn how to splice with that. Used rope is much more difficult to splice than new rope and If you are a beginning splicer you definitely don't want to start out with an old dried out chunk of used rope. But, if you do manage to pull off a splice with this stuff, send us a picture, and I will eat crow (wouldn't be the first time).

I agree they are practically useless since i dont trust them. I was looking at how to splice 16 strand and others but could not find this how to splice this type of rope. Thanks for your reply

If you need a good video on how to splice 16-strand I suggest the one that Nice Guy Dave at Wesspur did a few years ago. The link is:

Dave does the splice with a Toss Wand, but if you don't have a Toss Wand you can use a wire fid. It is possible to make your own wire fid (see pictures in prior posts on the Buzz) or you can buy them from Fids and Fibers. Be forewarned, splicing is addictive for certain personality types!

Thank you. I think this is solid core rope ? I will look at the video im sure it will work but i kept seeing different ropes with a bigger seems maybe hollow core i dont know i will watch the video sometime today. And yes i figured that out when i learned to splice 3 strand a few days ago.. Then i watchdd a video on actually how to do it. I wasnt very far off. Who tests splices?

Cool, good luck!
Splicing always seemed like magic to me. I'm the guy tying termination knots in tenex friction hitches.
