Having the shakes!

Don't be afraid to make a mistake just because he is there. If he gets tired of showing you just save up for your own gear, climb all the time and some day, he might be dragging brush for you haha! Really though, if this is something you truly want to learn, I don't think he will give up on you.
 
If your BF is going to teach you, I hope you have a very strong relationship. If he critizes you, don't take offense. It can be very challenging to work together and leave everything at work and then go home together.

I only say this out of my own experience. My wife and I worked together for several years until we decided for the future of our relationship that we stop. She was a production arborist for 15 years and went to 4 ITCCs. You can do this if you want to. Don't let anyone tell you different. Also, being nervous is all part of the game.
