Have Tenex, Need Friction Saver

I have 3/8 and 1/2" Tenex-Tec and want suggestions for a friction saver. Also have 2 small and 2 large green DMM rings.

I've seen the threads on the whoopie style savers and oldfart's u-savers. I think I've used a friction saver once so any advice is appreciated.

And does anybody use these anymore?

Those are cool, but I've found that the tenex pics pretty quickly. A couple years ago I had wesspur splice me up one with 10mm OP, much more resilient.
Buuutt.....you should bag it and go with the u saver.
Hands down

Nah. It's a beginner friction saver. Splice up a RING/ring with the tenex. Trash it. Use it, abuse it.

Then by the time it's ready to be redone, you'll realize you want something different better.

And use the half inch rope. It'll be less likely to snag on decent.

Beginner splicer or beginner friction-saver user? Either way I'm a little hurt

Kidding. That's exactly the advice I was looking for.

Now I'd just like dimensions. What's a good avg length to make?

Beginner friction saver user. No insult intended. But whatever dimensions we decide, it's a 50/50 chance on if it'll be good for you. Personally mine is 16" ish. Most people would say that's too short.

I like the one you made. What's the carabiner for? Can it be swapped for something locking? I could see that snapping into a twig during retrieval.

Can't find the webpage link for the life of me but I copied one that adjusts 10"-48" from an Arborist supply store. The tail had a keychain biner which I assumed was for install and retrieval, but I don't know. The biner in the pic is all I had laying around. The eye it's attached to wouldn't be used for anything (though strong enough) and I guess would double as a back splice for the whoopie. Could've sworn I got the link off the buzz but having trouble finding it now.

Oh yeah, I started to use the 1/2" Tenex but it looked like it was going to create too tight of an inner diameter with the rings I had. So I went with the 3/8 instead.
