Has anyone spliced Sterling Atlas 9/16"?

I don't like cutting the core at the "b" or "x" marks. I want to bury it. I'm going to try the Yale directions or NE. I used a combination of the two for polydyne and it went well.

You don't cut the core at either of these places... Unless you're talking about cutting a taper...

Core comes out at b, slide the cover back and milk twice, Mark where core exits, pull cover back again, mark two more marks on core, put cover in at mark 2 and out at mark 3, taper from x to tail of cover, milk into core, taper core tail and put under cover at x to 2/3 fid past mark b, pull all slack out and Mark core where it exits, cut core at that mark and taper smooth, pull slack out and bring core tail back in, final bury.

2/3 fid past "b" or "X".... That's not in the Samson instructions and it confused the hell out of me. No bury of the core tail in the throat? For a regular eye splice (Samson double class I) there's the 1/3 or "z", but for double class I end-for-end it says to have core exit at X and cut it.

Regardless, you can use any instructions you want, they're the same in effect but different in order and cover taper. Samson cover taper instructions seem to create the best taper for the Atlas rope.
