Hand Sewn splicing

I'm looking to learn how to do some sewn splices? Any recommendations on how and what equipment? It's not for a tree climbing application and doesn't need to be life support but still strong enough to hold a few hundred pounds.

And now I see Moss's thread. Another question though, how small of cord do you guys think could be sewn? 6 mm?

You can go to 1mm dyneema, but its a tricky thing to lockup the stitches.

Thanks, I'm definitely looking at splicing some dynaglide as well, so good to know something that small can be sewn. What size needle and thread are you using for something that small?
