And then things got interesting...

Earl just rotated the tree around, instead of bringing the load in closer to the pedestel. Luckily he had the tree close to the ground.

Earl is a senior citizen and stills climbs occasionally, but works daily. Louisville is lucky to have Mike as head of the City's Forestry division.

They're both 100% bad a$$ tree dudes.

Great photo set, and well done on the whole job. We've got to help one of the LGA's move maybe four or five small figs around the same size in the next few months (though I've yet to visit the site yet) so if it goes ahead I'll stick some shots up here.

The root ball sling you were using was very impressive, not seen one for smaller root balls like that was that your's or did the crane op have it?

That basket was fabricated on site from two 25' straps, six 2' straps, and a couple of tuffex slings. The crane operator instructed the creation of the basket.
