Half time

OMG, spot on, and yeah, I'm too old and white. I totally didn't get it and I texted other people about it, some liked it, some didn't.

The audio is a little better in these videos. Mumble rap is tough decipher. Youtube auto closed captioning can help if it's available and turned on. Reminds me of Italian opera or catholic mass in Latin, from an outsiders perspective looking in.
I listen to a good amount of Kendrick Lamar and wouldn't consider his stuff mumble rap. It was the audio feed coming from the broadcast that was shite.

Worth a read. I can admit to being one who wanted a more literal rebuke of what is happening and had trouble seeing what Lamar was doing. I will say that as soon as I saw Samuel Jackson, I knew something was happening because he is nobody's lapdog.

Good article, Njdelaney. I like the premise and reasoning but would argue the meaning or importance of the performance went way over the heads of the vast majority of viewers, at the very least due to the fact that what he was saying was indecipherable.

Fwiw, all of sports radio I heard today said the halftime show was a flop, again, in part because you couldnt hear what he was saying.

I don't think Kendrick Lamar cares what we think about the halftime show and he doesn't need the publicity. My hearing is bad enough that I would have to turn on closed captioning and watch it about 3 times to get everything.

I watch a guy called Rick Beato on youtube (rcmnd if you're a musician) who's got grey hair and I'm still clueless to much of the music he references. When he gets up to the Beatles, Clapton etc my brain registers. Did you know the guy from Toto played most of the guitar on Beat It, Not Eddy? had me fooled all these years, though the Eat It video solo is the most humorous

oh yeah OT yo yo yo yo yo your pants are on the down low

Some intellectual time warp mmusical entertainment :)
