Grease in/on Rope

Contact your MFGR. They will know best. For example, a fellow buzzer called and was told by their engineers to give the rope a solvent bath,(acetone I do belive) I would never dream of putting my ropes into a caustic, nasty chemical, wash down. But, if the guys who made the ropes said to do so, I would most likely comply.

That's an interesting product Williamd. I've never heard of it before. I got a chuckle from reading one of the customer's reviews about how this stuff ate through the bottle and continued to eat through everything it contacted all the way to the floor (sounds like my luck). That may be the right product for my greasy stains.

I find that review hard to believe. Sounds like the movie alien with the creature's plasma eating through the space ship. I've had a bottle on the shelf for a while. At least a year. The bottle is in tact. I use it often on laundry stains and it works well on pine tar, oil and grease. I'm pretty sure it won't damage polyester rope. Just rub it in, let it work a little then wash with hot water and detergent and rinse. It might make your bare hands a little dried out. Wear gloves if you want. I used it once on a pretty gummed up lanyard. I also used another time that goop cream hand cleaner. Did the same thing. Rubbed it in, let sit, then washed and rinsed. The results with both were good. Plus each works on laundry and the goop is good for getting grease and/or tar off your skin and hair. I'm sure you've dealt with wads of pine tar in the hair. The goop will get it out. My local superfresh grocery store carries the lestoil. Goop at wal mart for like 2 bucks.
