Grapplesaw Heads

My active tilt is all or nothing. Since my saw control is through the crane remote, I used to be able to hit the toggle and it would slowly tilt over. Now I have to hit grapple close and the toggle and it's all or nothing. Tilts with the quickness. I was told that was the way all the G2 saws were. So difficult to lay down stuff that I didn't cut.

I would not be happy with that. I just barely apply paddle pressure on remote of the close function grapple while I hold tilt up or down and it allows me to control the speed of the tilt easily
On my old gen 1 220 head it will do the same but if I do not apply pressure on the paddle and just touch tilt on mek remote it will quickly tilt down with gravity

I wonder if this is due to running the solenoid function through the crane remote vs. the tele-radio. From working with both of your current cranes, I can say I prefer how Aaron’s G2 160 tilts.

Both Steve and I run our saws through the crane's remote, no seperate saw remote. I think Steve's original truck was that way too, through the crane remote.

I dont know if I can "feather down" the tilt while holding a limb...never tried it. If I dont want a full release of the tilt, I just do quick taps to the button until it down tilted to where I want it.

I have no clue honestly. I'll try to feather it next time I'm running the truck and see what happens. Since the grapple close toggle is the activation for tilt I pull it completely closed and then toggle the tilt. I never thought of feathering as I didn't think it worked that way. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I know I used to be able to toggle tile without the squeeze and it would lay over at its own pace instead of actively dumping. Have you been around my truck with the saw on Eric?

No, Steve, not with your saw. Just slings. My comment was really just about how you described your tilt (which is how my sub’s head tilts) and how I’ve actually seen Aaron’s 160 head tilt. I will have to show this thread to my sub and see if he has tried feathering his down. This is all really good info. Thanks to all that have chimed in.
