Grain truck set up

Got this old grain truck to chip into. The back door is the three piece style with the middle being the small grain door. My chipper chute doesn't pivot. It might shoot over the back. Just wondering what you guys have done to mod an old grain truck.IMG_0514.webp

Not answering your question but, I have strapped a lightweight 12 inch dia five foot long piece of plastic road culvert to the end of my chute and resting on tailboard of a truck. That might get all the chips in a small hatch on many/most jobs.

The easy thing for starting out would probably be to leave the doors open while you chip, then close them to head out on the road. You may have all the weight that the truck can handle by the time you get full enough to need the doors to hold the chips in.

Personally I would rebuild the doors to meet your needs. Be careful with old grain trucks all the farmers that I know of with grain trucks have millions of miles on them and are run pretty hard during harvest and tend to sit the rest of the year.

I ran this for a few years in Regina.
Ripped the uprights to fit in the metal stake pockets. Screwed and nailed 3/4" form ply to those. Locked the corners by putting a 2x4 inside and cross nailing it every 4 inches. Ended up 12'x8'x5'. Filled it to max regularly and it held up. The walls did bow a bit though.
