Ok I am a student and am looking into getting a saddle and was wondering if anyone can answer this questions.

At school we climb with regular weavers 2 Floating Dee Extra Wide Back Saddle w/ Leg Loops. It is a fairly comfortable saddle.
1. What I was wondering is if the Weaver Cougar is just as comfortable or even more comfortable?

I was thinking about the ergovation but as a student I think it is our of my range money wise.

The ergovation, and tree motion has spots on the leg straps for a caritool so that you can place light items on it like a handsaw/scabbard

2. Does the Weaver Cougar have this option?

3. Is the Weaver Cougar worth the 200 dollar price tag?

Any help is great, thanks guys

I saw one guy with the Weaver Cougar, and he loved it. He said he wouldn't have bought anything else. Specially for the money it seems like a nice saddle. But if your trying to compare it to the ergovation or the tree motion, there isn't a comparison. I would say if your worried about cost, but want a great saddle, the weaver cougar, buckingham basically any of there saddles, and maybe check out the sequia.

I don't think that the weaver cougar had anything on the leg straps for a biners, but i'm not positive.

cool thanks for the input....i tried sequia in climbing lab and it wasnt to bad. It was better than the glide II...but anyways couldnt you put a caritool in the leg strap of a weaver Floating Dee Saddle w/ Leg Loops? or no? because there is a gap between the leg loop strap and leg loop pad...i would think you could slide a caritool in between there....tell if if you think not

I have a TM and a cougar and for the money you can't beat the cougar. It has good padding and is a workhorse saddle that is gonna last you a while. As far as the caritool on the leg loop. I wouldn't mess with it. If you need a place to put your saw i recommend the leg strap scabbard. You want the front of your saddle to be clean as far as not a whole lot of clutter with your climbing hitch.

I am a student as well, and I can't wait to get my hands on the ergovation. I went to school and know Ed (the inventor of the ergovation,) and the saddle is wicked awesome. Very comfortable and dynamic. In my opinion, you get what you pay for.

as for the leg strap thing....doesnt the treemotion have caritool spots on the leg loops/straps....i mean a handsaw cant be to heavy for that spot right? like if i were to get the cougar and slip a caritool in the legstrap

Safety Technology, the makers of TreeFlex have a student price on their harness in the UK. I doubt very much that they wouldn't offer any legit student arbo the same price.

Let me know if you need contact info for ST.

I have the cougar! Been climbing in it for a few months now and I love it.
I bought it after my weaver double D was stolen.
Be sure to try a few sizes they run a little large for some. also get a micro mouse pulley for the bridge, makes all the difference.
