Got a question about the zigzag

Try editing your pic a little (I crop a little off one side) and saving it. Pics taken from phone cameras are sometimes a pretty big file size, the site is happier with smaller files.
 
I vote to ban the OP for asking if he was being banned. That'll teach him a lesson. Obviously he hasn't read the covid bullshit thread or the truckers who jerk off with maple syrup thread.
 
It doesn’t appear to be true rust penetrating the metal on device. Looks more like where moist rust residue collected and dried on the parts.

I’d try a cleaning it with a non-invasive rust remover. WD and PB Blaster makes a rust remover aerosol can.

Most climbing gear like this isn’t that susceptible to rust and corrosion. You have to understand that this gear and hardware is used in all types of industries, not just the tree industry. There’s guys doing rope access work on drilling rigs and in refineries where gear and ropes get covered in all kinds of junk.
