Get reading!

I came across this review (see attachment) of Colin Tudge's new book, "The Secret Life of Trees" in a recent copy of New Scientist.

I got myself the book, and what can I say... wow! This guy is truly into trees.

What I find fascinating is the level of insight Tudge shows when discussing trees, ecosystems and social issues and the way it all inter-relates. This is a must-read for anyone involved with trees and should also be required reading for so-called "policy makers"....

By the way, I can alway tell when I'm on holiday: it's when I can read more than two pages of a book without falling asleep, know what I mean?! /forum/images/graemlins/zzz.gif

Mark, I spent awhile searching for this book on the internet. Unfortunately, it looks like it is currently only available in Europe. I could not find any vendors in the U.S. that are selling it.

I would really like to read this one. Any of you Europeans feel like sending a copy half way around the world? I could send you a coconut in return! /forum/images/graemlins/bangtard.gif

edit: the book is also available in Australia

Well, I got the book and Steve got his estate grown Kona coffee and chocolate covered mac nuts (were they good?).

Just thought I would bump this thread and say that The Secret Life of Trees is a most excellent book and I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the history, science, and economics of trees around the world.

The book will be available in the USA under a different title later this year so don't forget about it!: http://tinyurl.com/r2qp4
