Slice away some heatshrink tubing over that steel core flipline's swag to make sure it's not copper. (Dialectic corrosion?) Have heard of two flipline failures from this.

Saddle is the only item left.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Was there a recall? I wasn't aware there was an issue.
Mofish you may want to check that out.

No recall that I'm aware of - I waited and watched for it to come. I had heard of a failure with no injuries, and a second failure with 30 foot fall. Saw pictures of that lanyards copper swag area and it was a corroded mess.

I also was hoping a person who is much more informed as to how and why this was happening was going to post about it. Non of that came to pass.

Sorry to post on your sale thread - tacky. Thanks for taking it in stride. Merle

I am almost positive that the flipline would have a copper swage. From what I have found they changed it only recently. I guess the thing to do is cut back the black shrink tube at the eye and look for corrosion between the steel and copper. Maybe merle can chime in on this.
It seems to be a very very small number of issues in what has to be thousands of these fliplines made and sold. I would guess that there would be some environmental factors that exacerbate the corrosion between the two metals. Either way check it out just to be sure. Can't be too safe.
