A week ago Monday, one of our climbers had his gear in a backpack with his spikes strapped to the back, They were in the cab of a truck that was getting ready to leave, so I grab the pack threw it over a shoulder and off to the back yard with it. I had to go through a small opening and took the pack off the shoulder it came down with a swinging forward motion and one of the spikes flipped around came straight down over the top of my boot into the outside of my right ankle. (I didn't cry) It punktured down off the bone and hurt like crazy.
Three smaller toes wouldn't work (they work now) swelled up big time and some blood. Trip to the Doc's,,,,,,,SUCKED
ChrisB bandaged me up real nice, Also took a photo today that he said he will post.
Good thing it wasn't a little bit fore or aft or you would be a lot worse off with tendon damage for sure. Gotta watch all those sharp things, not just saws.
Ouch! You need to take better care of yourself Scotty.
I have nightmares about gaffing my legs. I came close to gaffing my foot one time. The opposing gaff cut through the leather of my boot just missing the lining.
I use pieces of irrigation hose to cover my gaffs when not in use. It's cheap and easy to replace.
you must have nicked a tendon at least to have your toes sieze up, i did that with a handsaw to the wrist a few years ago. just three small punctures from a slap and i couldn't make a fist for a few days. thank heavans it wasn't worse.

Doc's thinking was it pushed it to the side and the swelling.
I was very lucky.
Don;t need to shave the legs they are naturally sexy
I'm glad those gaffs didn't murder you completely. Hey, tell Kulu or whoever to get Simon a phone dammit. I can't reach him when I see a deer and need to report it.
